The Intel Optane 900P is a solid state drive based on Intel's proprietary 3D Xpoint memory. It is a slightly modified version of the Datacenter-SSD DC P4800X and offers faster loading times for designs, simulations and adapted games such as Star Citizen. The strength of the Optane 900P lies in the significantly reduced latencies during access.
It offers less than 10 microseconds for both reading and writing, compared to the often more than 50 microseconds of flash-based PCIe SSDs. In addition, there is the advantage that the Optane technology already gets going with a low command queue (queue depth). If data is read and written in parallel, performance is hardly impaired.
And even with increasing filling level, the performance remains at a constantly high level. Optane uses 3D XPoint memory technology developed by Intel and Micron. The technology is based on the change of the electrical resistance and does not require field effect transistors such as the flash cells, which makes a higher integration density possible.
3D XPoint is a performance class between fast DRAM and slower NAND flash. Unlike DRAM, 3D XPoint is non-volatile and retains data even without a constant power supply.,The Intel Optane 900P is a solid state drive based on Intel's proprietary 3D Xpoint memory. It is
